Kindergarten Teacher Takes Off Running When A Child Is Kidnapped From The Playground

kindergarten teacherChildren were playing outside for recess and a kindergarten teacher was just wrapping up her normal day, when she saw something that sent her in a full sprint across the playground.

Two men walked onto a playground full of kids just before the end of the school day on Friday at Westside Elementary School. Teacher, Ginger Taylor watched it happen then witnessed one of the men grab a 5 year old boy and try to take off with him. Taylor leaped into action and chased after him at a dead sprint. She tried taking the boy back, when the men not holding the child knocked her to the ground. The kidnappers were then able to take off and toss the screaming child in a car. Thankfully Taylor bounced back in just enough time to get the car description and license plate info. She called the cops immediately to chase down the kidnappers. The entire situation is a mother’s worst nightmare, and thankfully this teacher’s quick thinking saved the day.

The police issued an Amber Alert and immediately started to pursue the kidnappers. Only ten minutes after receiving the 911 call, they were able to catch up with the kidnappers. They men were just about to board a gassed up private plane that they had rented, headed for Mississippi, WCTV reported.

The kidnappers were identified as 33 Year old Michael Ray McCormick and 36 year old Scott Stapp. Mccormick is the non-custodial parent of the boy and Stapp is his friend. Both men were immediately apprehended. The little boy was returned by police to his mother, and Taylor has been called a hero throughout the community.

Taylor received a standing ovation from a room full of people, thanking her saving the child. She said she didn’t deserve the credit and said all the glory belongs to God “I’m honored to be recognized, but I’d like to give the glory to God,” Taylor said to a packed crowd. There was hardly a dry eye in the room “He (God) was there for me, protecting me, the child, every teacher on the playground, all my coworkers, and without Him, the child wouldn’t be here.”

The child’s father Ray McCormick has since been charged with kidnapping, disruption of a school, and simple battery on a school official. His friend and sidekick in the kidnapping is facing charges for being an accomplice to the crimes.

Taylor is an amazing woman and a true gem. She’s a blessing to every child on that campus, and if people didn’t realize it before they definitely realize it now! God was in school that day because he was with Taylor and those children and everyone is safe because of it. Share this on Facebook if you believe Ginger Taylor is a HERO!
